I find your site both, interesting and informative, thank you!

I would like to ask you some questions about the so called “mother nature”;of course,I understand these are “tall questions” (like the physicist Henry Stapp would say),and I just expect you to give me your “general feelings” about this matter.

First of all,I am not a christian, and do not have a personal God,ever since I was 17 I left the church for a number of reasons.
However,I have come to accept (for another number of reasons)that the “most plausible” scenario when we die is the survival of consciousness (call it Soul or else). This scenario does not include any Gods. But because mainly of reports of experiences like NDEs,meditation and the use of psychodelic drugs, where often people experience, among other things,an intense Love,I am wondering about the role of this Love in our lives, ruled by mother nature and its “ruthless program” of evolution.
I see evolution and the works of mother nature as a mainly violent process (i.e. the food chain),and even though there seems to be individual “acts of love” in nature,it appears to me that Love is rather an “anomaly”,and what prevails is violence, and among humans, murderous conduct.

How would you respond to this question about the role of Love in nature?,and how can this Love be conciliated with the violent nature of the evolutionary process?(Bear with me that I am trying hard not to deviate from this especific subject)

Cordially

Alberto

Hi Fred, thanks so much for the note. I laugh so hard when ever I think of that crazy castle I built. I even have a photo of it somewhere in Halifax. I was trying to win a gingerbread building contest in Good Housekeeping Magazine. Crazy crazy. I always have fond memories of my time with you in art class, it was my home in high school. Thanks so much for your genuine guidance :)

Hey Deryk,
I’m really happy to come across you site
and see some of your interests that parallel my own.
Are you connected with Shambhala…
(i saw something about Halifax)
So ya, I wanted to ask you some questions
as I plan to come to Peru soon
to explore their Shaman traditions.
I spent a couple years in India
practicing with the Tibetan tradition
and very much connect with the nature of mind.
I was hoping to find some leads to shamans & communities
that have some interest and perspective in mahamudra
as well as using plant medicine.
I saw Ay-wasi’s website
and wow- Awesome !
except that I could never afford a retreat with them…
I’m saving money now in Korea, teaching english,
and I hope to make it last in Peru for 2 or 3 years.
So I guess, I am curious about what your up to…
do you live in Peru…
what are you doing these days…
Also, I guess more practically,
do you know of any opportunities
where I could connect with a shaman/community
that’s into mahamudra-type-stuff & plant medicine ?…
(for someone who pretends to be a dharma bum
without all the bells & dorje’s…
I’m really excited !
especially to have some vivid experiences
and see my mind in new ways…
can’t wait to be back in nature
and exploring something new…
well, I hope this note finds you well
thanks for the dope website !
feel good : )
